The Cruelty of Sports
It was a stunning showdown between Roger Federer of Switzerland and Andy Roddick of US. Gosh. The final set, they played till 16-14. That's like playing a badminton match till like 30-28. Just for comparison, albeit not a very good one.
If you all have read the news by now, you'll probably know that FeDex won it after 4 hours and 16 minutes. That's a very long time to be running around the court under the sun. I can't even pay attention in class for 1 solid hours and these two people are running around with full of energy though after 4 hours. My deepest respect for them.
But all credits to Andy Roddick for putting up such a tough fight, I mean, he really deserve to win. He gave it his best, and yet in sports only one person could win. FeDex won the points when he needed to and Andy lost points when he really needed them. Guess sports isn't just about being prepared and good, it's about doing the right thing at the right time. Getting the points when you need them.
You can really feel his pain deep inside, but that's sports. May the best man win.
But I believe it's not always about winning. Though Andy lost, I'm sure he can walk away with his head held high; knowing he gave his best.
And to Roger Federer, the greastest of them all, with 15 Grand Slam titles. Congratulations.
